A New Vision For The Forgotten

In the town of Mawana near Meerut, a quiet yet powerful change is unfolding. It’s not marked by headlines or fanfare, but by something far more meaningful – the return of sight to those who had almost lost hope.

On October 14, 2024, the Diti Devika Foundation, in collaboration with Kalyan Kranti Meerut and the District Blindness Prevention Committee (Meerut), organised a free eye check-up and cataract surgery camp at Utsav Mandap, Meerut Road, Mawana. The camp aimed to provide free eye care services and cataract operations to those who could not afford them – restoring not only their vision but also their independence and dignity.

For many, the world had become a blur – reading, working, or even recognising family members had become difficult. But today, they’re reclaiming their lives.

The camp saw a steady flow of patients, most of whom had endured years of poor eyesight. Through this initiative, they received quality care without the burden of financial stress. The only requirement? A simple Aadhaar card and photo ID. The real cost was carried by a team of committed doctors, volunteers, and supporters who believe that sight should not be a privilege – it should be a right.
