Kartik is a bright and dedicated student with a strong academic record and a deep love for learning. But like many children, his education was nearly derailed by circumstances beyond his control.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kartik’s father lost his job, and his mother got infected in the second wave. With no support from relatives, the family had to use up all their savings just to survive. Even after the father found work earning INR15,000 a month, the income wasn’t enough to cover household needs and school fees for Kartik and his two elder sisters. Though the eldest daughter offered home tuitions, her earnings were minimal.
When Kartik was promoted to a higher grade, his school fees – already INR4,750 per month – increased. Unable to afford the cost, his parents feared he would have to drop out.
Fortunately, one of his teachers referred his case to our NGO. Through our support program, we stepped in to cover Kartik’s school fees and provide educational support.
Today, Kartik is back in school, performing well. His story is a powerful reminder of how a little support at the right time can change the course of a child’s life.
